Hooping Workshop

Remember the days of hula hoops? You can feel like a kid again-- and use your core (all the muscles from your shoulders to your hips)--while hooping! You can burn 100 calories for every 10 minutes of hooping (about the same as running on a treadmill at a moderate speed) and improve your posture and flexibility as a bonus. Hooping tones muscles, increasing flexibility, improving coordination, and building stamina in an incredible workout that really feels great. Hooping can also be very meditative, calming, and centering. And of course, hooping is a great way to raise your endorphin level--it's hard to be unhappy while hooping!

YOU CAN DO IT....

Using hand-made hoops of thicker and heaver material than flimsy store-bought hula hoops, (which are too small and lightweight for most adults to use), men and women of all sizes, ages, and rhythmic abilities can learn to hoop. The bigger and heavier the hoop, the slower it rotates around the body, which means even beginners can learn to hoop with ease.

At this workshop, you will first select and decorate your own hoop, which you will take home with you. Then you will learn basic hooping; how to keep it going around your waist. From there we will explore the different moves and tricks you can do with a hoop, and learn core moves that you can build upon, as you learn to creatively express yourself.
