ARRIVAL & CHECK-IN PROCEDURES

Registration Hours: We will be on-site beginning Thursday afternoon at 2 pm. Please don't show up any earlier than that, as we can't guarantee that anyone will be on-site to greet you and show you where to set up.. This is not a large festival, so we will not have a registration booth that is staffed 24-7. If you show up on Thursday and set up camp while we're gone, we may ask you to move it the next morning. Registration will run Thursday 2 pm till 10 pm, Friday 9 am till 10 pm, and Saturday all day. Please try to time your travel so that you arrive during open registration hours.

When you arrive, park where you see other cars parked, and come find one of us (Linda, Stephen, or Sarah). We'll check you in, collect any money due for admission or vending, and show you where parking and camping areas are.

FESTIVAL SCHEDULE

Thursday: The site opens at 2 pm Thursday; please don't show up prior to then! (If you MUST arrive earlier, please contact us first to make arrangements). Registration will run from 2 pm till 10 pm; please try to time your arrival accordingly.

Friday: Registration opens at 8 am Friday; again, please try to time your arrival accordingly. Classes and workshops begin on Friday afternoon; there will be a drum circle later.

Saturday: Classes and workshops continue. There is a POT-LUCK dinner that evening (please bring something to share). That night we'll have an open ritual to celebrate the seasons. We'll round out the evening with live music and a drum circle.

Sunday: We'll close the festival with a give-away at 9 am; please bring something for this. The site closes Sunday at 3:00 pm Eastern. We'll need people to help clean up, starting early that morning.

TRASH/LEAVE NO TRACE

Take Home Your Own Trash: We follow a Leave-No-Trace (LNT) ethic at PFR. This means that YOU are responsible for removing any and all trash that you bring or generate while there. There is a dumpster down the road, but if you don't have a Mitchell County tag, you may get a $100 ticket, so be warned. You should plan to take all your trash home with you when you leave.

LNT: If you'd like to read up on LNT, here are some good LNT principles & ideas as they apply to Burning Man specifically: http://www.burningman.co m/environment/resources/lnt.html. Prepare ahead of time; remove all excess packaging from things, bring things in large containers rather than several small ones, prepackage your food before you leave home, plan to recycle some of your trash (glass, cans) later, check your camp and surrounding areas for MOOP (Matter Out of Place) very carefully before you leave.

THE SITE, CAMPING, RV INFO

Pics of the site: https://picas aweb.google.com/117318476889592799607/LodgeEarthdance#

The Site: The Lodge at Turtle Lake is private property consisting of several mostly-flat acres, a very large lawn, a small cabin (the Lodge), and a school bus. There is ample camping room and trees to hang hammocks from, although if you'd like to camp away from the main area, you may need to clear a campsite, as the site hasn't been bushhogged in a while, and we don't have the tools yet. There is room (and electricity) for a very few campers and RVs (please let us know if you're bringing a camper and/or need to plug into electricity). The Lodge is heated and air-conditioned, and has a basic kitchen in one corner. There is one small bathroom inside, and a shower outside. If needed, Stephen's cabin is just a quick drive next door, where he has a large 4- person shower and two more bathrooms. Also on-site there is an old school bus with room for an inflatable mattress, but no door and no heat.

Showers/Toilets/Water: There is a small outdoor shower at the Lodge, and one bathroom inside. If we have need of more, Stephen's cabin is next door (a short drive; too far to walk), and he has a four-person shower. Please bring your own towels, soap, and shampoo! We have spigots outside so you can refill your water containers for your camp.

Clothing: The site is very private and PFR is clothing optional, but if you are where cars can see you, you must be clothed.

RVs & Campers: Please let us know ahead of time if you are bringing a camper or RV, and if you will need electricity for it (you will need an adapter to plug into the house current; there are no water or sewage hookups, and no generators are to be run close to the main camping areas due to the noise). We can supply electricity for a very limited number of RVs or campers for $25 each.

POT-LUCK INFO, MEALS

Bring Your Own Stuff for PotLuck!! For the potluck Saturday night, please bring *everything* you need for your offering, including a serving spoon, carving knife, etc.

Potluck: For the Potluck Feast on Saturday night, if your last name starts with: A- F, bring meat dishes; G-M, bring appetizers, salads, cheeses, or breads; N-S, bring veggie dishes; or T-Z, bring desserts. Please label your dish with all ingredients on an index card so allergies, etc. can be avoided! In addition to your food contribution, bring feast gear plate, bowl, cup, utensils, and SERVING SPOONS for your dish. Disposable feast gear is fine, but please be earth-friendly, and take your trash back to camp with you. You'll also need beverages. Keep your food contribution at your camp until time for the potluck, and plan on cooking your own food we don't have room for cooking or storage services. PLEASE PUT AWAY YOUR PERISHABLE FOOD IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE POTLUCK!!

Meals: All meals are provide-your-own; you'll need to bring food and cookware, and grill or campstove. The kitchen in the Lodge is small, but available to participants (bring all the pots, pans, etc. you will need to cook with!). Please bring a cooler for your food - there are no storage facilities inside for food or drinks.

FIRES, FIREWOOD

No Ground Fires: All personal campfires must be contained and off the ground in some manner. Feel free to build a fire in the small fire area just off the back deck (bring your own wood!).

Firewood: If you plan to have a fire at your campsite, PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN FIREWOOD! You may also pick up any downed wood on-site.

ANIMALS

DOGS ARE NOT ALLOWED at PFR. Other animals may be allowed after consideration.

ANIMALS ON-SITE: As mentioned above, there are three gators in the lake. There are also neighboring dogs that sometimes roam loose, coyotes, racoons, squirrels, etc. If you leave food out at night, it WILL get eaten. Messily.

SAFETY, SECURITY, CONTACTING SOMEONE ON-SITE

Legal Stuff: Please be careful about whom you choose to bring to the festival with you, as they may not appreciate the atmosphere, or potentially cause problems. Make sure you know the person well, and can vouch for their good behavior! Along those lines, rules about no illegal substances, theft, threat to or endangerment of others, and other infractions of mundane law will be strictly enforced. Underage drinking (have your ID!), gross drunken behavior, unwanted sexual attention (harrassment), and sexual escapades with someone underage will not be tolerated. Any infracture of these rules will result in expulsion from the festival with no refund, and possible arrest, if appropriate. Parents, watch your kids, especially teenagers, at all times. Finally, PFR is a private function, and is off-limits to media personnel acting in a professional capacity. This is to ensure confidentiality for our participants.

Emergency Contacts: To contact someone on-site, call Stephen at 229-396-0963, or Linda at 334-787-9332.
