391 registered so far (244 pre-paid, 155 pay-at-gate)!
(WED, 11:30 am CST) PRE-REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED! You may show up and register at the gate. See ya there!
All cars must STOP at the registration booth upon entering the site, and again every single time you re-enter the site. There will be no more "Registered Moondance Participants" passes given out, so you must stop to have every person in your car checked in (again).
REGISTERING: You have until Wednesday, May 21 at noon to register for Moondance; after that I'll be leaving for the site. Remember there is NO day-trip price to Moondance, and that I reserve the right to not allow entrance to anyone who shows up at the gate unregistered. Showing up Saturday night for just a few hours to party without having first pre- registered will NOT get you a discount on the $50 admission fee.
Paying at the Gate: A lot of people have registered and not paid, or said they would pay at the gate. If you need to know if *you* have paid already or how much you owe, just email me.
LNT - THE DUMPSTERS WILL BE CLOSED: We are moving to a
Leave-No-Trace (LNT) ethic for Moondance and FallFling. This essentially
means that YOU are responsible for removing any and all trash that you bring or generate while
there. The main thing you need to know is that the dumpsters down the road are now closed to
anyone who is not from Carroll County; that means you will need to plan on taking ALL of your
trash home with you. Also, the trash cans at the Kitchen are there for trash from things you buy
from Quacker Barrel, the food vendors in the Kitchen. They are NOT there for your personal
trash. Finally, we hope to have some special containers for recyclables, so keep an eye out for
those near the Kitchen.
. Guidelines for LNT
DRIVE SLOW!! When you come in the gate off the road, please remember to drive SLOWLY. Two reasons - this is a working horse stable, with riding lessons going on throughout the day. Cars driving too fast can spook the horses, leading to injury to both horse and rider - and these are KIDS on the horses. Also, because of the drought, the dirt roads are way dusty. The faster you drive, the more dust you stir up. This dust then settles back down on everyone's cars, tents, food, hair, and in their sinuses. Yuck. So drive slow enough so that you don't stir up a dust cloud (yeah, like 2 mph - seriously!).
No Smoking in the Dining Area: The dining area to the left of the Kitchen is a no- smoking area. You can smoke *outside* the dining area, but if those sitting at the tables can smell your smoke, you must move further away.
New Septic Tanks: The site owners have recently installed septic tanks to the left side of the Great Hall, near the tree there. It's not marked off, but it's very obviously fresh-turned dirt. Please DO NOT camp or drive there.
Rumors: Yep, more rumors. One that I've heard is that due to a party taking place Saturday night, Moondance is now an "adult" event. This is (of course) absolutely NOT TRUE. Moondance is and always will be a family-oriented event. The party Saturday night will take place at 11 pm in the Great Hall. There will be security posted at both entrances and around the Hall to make sure that no one under 18 is allowed to come in or even peep in. Special wristbands will be required for entrance; those under 21 will be specially marked. Be assured that we make every effort to keep adult activities adult-only. At any rate, I operate with full transparency; if you ever want to know what's going on with my festivals, all you have to do is check the website or ask me directly. I *always* post ANY news, updates, etc., here. If it ain't on here, or listed in the Rules or in the What to Expect, it ain't true. :)
VENDORS/ELECTRICITY: All vendors must check in with Siryn of BioBuzz (my vendor coordinator) before setting up. And if you are using electricity, you must check in with Stephen of BioBuzz before you plug in *anywhere*, including someone else's power strip. All plugs will be tagged with the vendor's name, and any untagged cords will be pulled.
No Burn Ban: This year there is no official burn ban against personal camp fires. However, you must keep your campfire contained in some manner, and use common sense with your fire (don't leave it unattended, don't make it too large, etc). If you use rocks around your fire, you *must* remove them afterwards so that the site owners can mow later. If a bushhog hits rocks, it can a) kill the tractor operator, and/or b) seriously and expensively damage the bushhog. Oh, and remember to bring your own firewood.
Schedule: Be sure to check the schedule (http://www.faeriefaith.net/MDschedule.html) so you know what all is going on. For Kokopelli's class on Shamanic Astrology, you'll need to bring your natal chart. There is a baby shower on Saturday. CST is having a meeting on Sunday. You'll need to bring bokken or shinai for Isa's classes on swordsmanship. Remember your lingerie for the Redneck Panty Party! And so forth...
Ice Cream! I bought an old-fashioned hand-crank ice cream churn off of eBay - which means... ICE CREAM! I'm bringing plenty of rock salt, and plan to make a couple of batches of vanilla. If you help churn, you get to eat ice cream! And if you'd like to make your favorite flavor, go ahead and make the recipe at home and just bring it with you. It helps if the mix is already cold when it goes in the churn. I'm pretty sure I have a 4-quart churn, if that helps with your recipe planning. I have no idea when I'll do this - could be Friday, could be Saturday. Could be both. Could be Sunday. It'll be somewhere near the Kitchen, for sure. That's about as organized as I'm getting with this.
Handfasting Annoucement: Mr Christopher Cochran and Ms. Amy Willmore would like to invite you to the top of ritual hill at sundown on Saturday afternoon during Moondance 2008 for thier Handfasting celebration! This festival will be a two year anniversary of their being together and they thought it was only appropriate that they share their ceremony with everyone in the community! Your presence will be gift enough for them, but if you feel the need to give something, they would rather you donate to the land owners to help them keep up this wonderful place we all call home for the gathering season. Hope to see you all there to witness the joining of these two hearts at a place that holds a special place in all of our hearts!
