FallFling 2000 Ritual

Dragon Hills, in the Quiet Area
by Mattie
Cernunnos

(After everyone has formed a circle:)

East:
Sacred Fire, the light that burns brightly in our souls, administrator of warmth to our hearths, flames of life and destruction, lend us your strength. Come and join us this night.

South:
Sacred Earth, Giver of life, mother of us, bless us with your presence, bring us your grace. Come and join us this night.

West:
Sacred Water, rushing rivers, water that moves mountains, oceans of deep, quencher of thirsts, we ask you to offer us introspection. Come and join us this night.

North:
Sacred Air, life we breathe, conjurer of storms, in the murmurs of your winds bring the knowledge to us of our ancestors. Come and join us this night.

Linda:
The Circle is cast
We have stepped into a place
Where time does not exist,
Where the worlds come together,
A place where Birth delivers death
Where night runs into day
And where Joy and sorrow
Come together as one
In a time that is not a time
In a place that is not a place
On a day that is not a day
We stand at the threshold
Before the veil of mysteries
May the Ancient Ones help and protect us
On our magical journey.

Cliff:
Cernunnos, Great Horned one, keeper of the forests, consort of the great mother, God of fertility, listen to our call. Guide us on this night.

Mattie:
As Mother earth prepares herself for slumber, she kisses her children with the nectar of sweet poison, bringing death and an end to the old, to make way for the new. A new beginning, a new end, a restoration. The wheel of life ever turns, bringing with it the promise of rebirth.

We come together this night under the Reed Moon. The moon of the home, the moon which manifests truth. Reed moon summons the cool winds that blow, bringing peace and rest to the earth, to make way for the birth of the new.

Cliff:
Cernunnos with your playful tunes, you invoke the spirits of the earth to procreate and bring forth birth and renewal. Oh Cernunnos, devastation has stepped foot in your forests. The fires of summer in the West have brought death and destruction to your children of the green. Send us a song of healing and rebirth to the smouldering pyres where great forests once stood.

Oh Cernunnos, we know that the wheel of life will turn for us all. With every birth there is a death, with every death there is a birth. Through sacrifice, springs hope for the children of tomorrow. That which has turned black and dull, will be renewed with greenery and luster.

Mattie:
All who have gathered together here in this great circle, turn your attentions to the forests of the West, the lives that were changed, the tragedies that played there. With the forests that grow, we build our homes, we make the paper that lends itself to art, we create remedies for illnesses, and instruments that carry the music we love. Feel the pain of the forest; she now needs us. We who have taken from her, must now lend a hand to heal her.

The forests of the world also suffer the effects of the raping of their bounty by loggers that continue to plague and cause havoc to our ecosystem. We who depend on the breath of the forests, must join together and send them healing energy as well, and seek to aid our society by helping to promote conservation and recycling.

Linda:
Let us perform a healing, a healing for the forest which always gives to us. A flute player is going to play Cernunnos' choice of instruments so that its music may rise and greet him. Through the rhythms of the dancer, magick will be made. Anyone wishing to dance please join in.

(Gil begins playing with Krys dancing in the middle. During this time Quarters start gathering up people clockwise from their quarter to the next to form a circle.)

PAUSE

Linda:
We are now going to form 4 circles within the circle.

(Once the circles are formed, the Quarters will teach them their chant:
North: "BRING REBIRTH!"
West: "Heal Our Earth!"
South: "Send us Love!"
East: "Cernunnos!")

Linda:
Each circle represents a season, a turn within the wheel of life. Each one will circle round and round, raising energy, each chanting a different chant. We'll also circle here in the center. When the energy has reached its peak, I'll shout now, and all raise your arms upward and send the energy out to the forests. After we stop spinning, we'll all make one big circle again.

Cliff:
O Great Cernunnos, hear our plea
That we thy vessels of healing be
thy power raised
May thy name be praised
Help us bring rebirth and healing
To your forests
Help us heal our world.

(Start spinning circles now.)

North: "BRING REBIRTH!"
West: "Heal Our Earth!"
South: "Send us Love!"
East: "Cernunnos!"

(After energy has been raised and sent, and everyone has their breath back and is settled down a bit:)

Mattie:
But we cannot let this be our only effort. We must respect the forests, we must try to give back. Everyone must do their part.

(Water sharing-have 4 chalices of water, swirled after circle is cast and swirled again after healing energies used. Quarters will come in and get chalices, pass clockwise from their quarter to the next, while PS reads:)

Mattie:
Water is the lifeblood of the earth. And the Moon and Sun play the water of the earth as the heart courses the blood in our own veins. The earth's rivers and streams are her arteries and veins; her seas and oceans the womb from which new creation is made. The clouds and rain are the breath of the earth, which brings refreshed and renewed life.

We of the Faerie Faith share of water to celebrate our unity with the living earth.

Linda:
Share of my water and know that as the rain it is the bringer of life.

Share of my water, and know that as the oceans and seas it is the womb of life.

Share of my water, and know that as the clouds it is the seeker, the traveler with a mission.

I share of the water, and may all know that as the streams and rivers, it is the shapechanger, the destroyer of old, and at the same time, through change, the creatrix of new.

Knowing well that water is the essence of life, we have shared and become one, and now as one, we offer our lives to She who is the Mother of all life, in service and in love.

(HPS pours some water on the ground.)

Linda:
As a family we have gathered to share
with the elements; earth, water, fire and air.
From this circle of mystery we now depart
To live our lives in our mother's heart.

(Do Freddie, ring bell)

It is done!
