Summer Camps for Kids:

Camp Kaleidoscope (Ages 6-12)
June 6-10: Session A
June 13-17: Session B
June 20-24: Session C

August 1-5: Session G
Each week of camp will be filled with games, activities, special guests and field trips. The first 50 campers will receive a 2005 Camp Kaleidoscope t-shirt with their registration fee. Campers can expect to discover new talents and abilities, make new friends and have a blast!
Morning Session: 8 am-Noon; Afternoon Session: 1 pm-5:15 pm. All sessions will meet at Auburn Junior High School. $45 for Morning Session or Afternoon Session, $80 for the full day, $485 for the entire summer (saves $75). There is no Camp the week of June 27-July 8. You must be registered for camp on the Friday prior to the session you wish to attend.

Art For Young Children (Ages 4-5-6)

Explore a variety of age-appropriate art materials such as clay, paint, and fabric. The first session will be focused on bilingual (English & Spanish) workshops. Sessions are Mon, Wed, and Fri, 10:15 am-11:45 am, at the Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center, and are $30 per session. Call 501-2963 for more info.

Visual Art Workshops For Children (Ages 7 and older)

A variety of age-appropriate classes will be taught by area artists and art educators. The first session will be focused on bilingual (English & Spanish) workshops. Sessions are Monday- Friday, 9:30 am-12:30 pm, at the Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center, and are $40 per week per child. Enrollment is limited; pre-registration is required. AACT Musical Theatre Camp (Ages 8-16)

Come be a part of one of the most fun and exciting aspects of theatre; one week of song, dance and acting! The American musical provides a wonderful avenue for young actors to explore movement, expression, voice, emotion, projection, and teamwork. With a show-stopping performance at the end, this is an opportunity young actors don't want to miss!

The Youth Experiences in Science (Y.E.S.) Summer Camp sponsored by the College of Sciences and Mathematics will take place June 5-10 and July 11-15, with residential and commuter options available. Summer Y.E.S., which is open to students in upcoming grades 3-9, is a great opportunity to let children explore the many wonders of science by participating in lots of hands-on experiments and make-and-take activities related to chemistry, carnivorous plants, dinosaurs, marine biology, rocketry, forensics and much more. Registration deadline is May 13 (register by April 27 for reduced camp fees). Auburn Equestrian is one of only a few colleges nationwide offering summer camps for junior competitors. This unique collegiate program concentrates on fundamental training and the development of equestrian skills. Day Camps are designed for students ages 7 and older. During this program, each student learns about horse care, horse maintenance and basic riding principles. This camp accommodates a wide range of students from beginners, to those with limited horse show experience. It is a fun environment intended to expand the student's equestrian knowledge. Resident Camps are designed for the advanced rider. These camps feature a more intensive regimen. Resident camps stress equitation training over fences and on the flat, for Hunt Seat, as well as horsemanship and reining for Western and emphasize the skills needed to compete at the collegiate level.

Brown, a granddaughter of a Baptist minister inIndianapolis, came to study at Huntsville's historic Oakwood College, she intended to become a gospel evangelist. When her growing vocal abilities caught the attention of the opera world, she became an understudy at New York City's Metropolitan Opera. And then when her opportunity to step into the spotlight finally arrived, her triumphal march into the fourth act of Aida to rescue an ailing singer landed her on the front page of the New York Times. The rest is history in the making, including this, her first concert in returning to Alabama. With a program divided between her favorite arias and the spirituals that mean so much to her deep faith and heritage, Angela M. Brown will inspire everyone of every age and musical interest.
